Accounting Assistant

Hammond, LA - Full Time

This is an IN-OFFICE position. Remote Work Not Available. Candidate must live within the area. Location is in Hammond, LA.; centrally located off of I-55 or I-12. 

Full Time: Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm with 1 hour lunch 12:00-1:00pm

Compensation:

  • Starting Pay: $41,600 annually; Exempt Salaried Position
  • Room for growth in position and salary is available 

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm CDT; 1 hour lunch
  • Extended hours may be required during peak seasons

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Support most aspects of accounting management (billing, tax forms, reporting etc.)
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements
  • Prepare and process detailed financial statements for review with CFO
  • Prepare budgets, variance reports, and forecasts in accordance with our established needs
  • Reconcile all accounts monthly, including Healthcare, Life, STD & LTD bills
  • Collections of outstanding account receivables
  • Expense Account Management for reporting and approval by CFO
  • Office inventory control; reporting to CFO all equipment that is removed from inventory
  • Manage journal entries, invoices etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing
  • Participate in preparation for the annual audit
  • Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
  • Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Proven experience as accounting assistant or other similar position
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
  • General Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and QuickBooks
  • BS in Accounting (3+ years business experience in lieu of degree)
